June Marie Ives, 79, of Oelwein died October 3, 2013 at University Hospitals, Iowa City, following a short illness.
Services will be Monday, October 7th at 2:00 pm at Rettig Funeral Chapel in Tripoli with Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Inurnment will follow at Faith Church of Christ Cemetery in rural Tripoli. Memorials may be directed to the funeral home in her name. Friends may call for one hour preceding service at the chapel on Monday.
June was born June 23, 1934 in Tripoli, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Ada (Whitman) Lau. On April 7, 1956 she was united in marriage with Ronald Ives in Galena, Illinois, and they later divorced. Mrs. Ives was a housemother at ARC in Oelwein, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Oelwein. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family, Chicago Cubs baseball, Iowa Hawkeyes sports, bingo games, and traveling.
She is survived by six children: Steven of Des Moines, Scott(Sally) of Oelwein, Sheila (David) Simon of Hawkeye, Richard (Beth) of Rapid City, South Dakota, Randall(Ronda) of Grinnell, and Michael (Michelle) of Cedar Rapids, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Melva Walsh and Wilma Wydeven, and one brother, Henry Lau.
